Test before you buy
Every well is different, and two wells on the same road can need different equipment. We test hardness, iron, manganese, pH and TDS at your sink for free and help you arrange a certified lab test for bacteria, nitrate and lead. You pay only for the treatment your water needs.
Well water treatment cost: common questions
How much does well water treatment cost?
It depends on what your water needs. Single systems installed by Willow Springs range from $1,395 for UV disinfection to $2,895 for an iron filter. Most wells need one or two, so typical setups run about $3,690 to $5,190, and a well with hardness, iron and bacteria is about $6,585.
Can I finance it?
Yes, with approved credit: 60 months at 9.99% APR. For example, an iron filter plus softener at $5,190 is about $110 a month.
Why does well water cost more to treat than city water?
City water is already disinfected and mostly balanced. A private well can have hardness, iron, manganese, low pH, sulfur smell and bacteria in any combination, and each problem needs its own equipment.
How do I know what my well needs?
Test first. We test hardness, iron, manganese, pH and total dissolved solids free at your sink, and help you arrange a certified lab test for bacteria, nitrate and lead. Penn State Extension recommends testing for bacteria every year.
In what order is equipment installed?
Generally sediment and pH correction first, then iron removal, then softening, with UV disinfection last so it treats clear water. The exact order depends on your test.
